Dinghy Racing

Done some serious racing? Know how to sail? Fancy something different? Or just want to go away to show other unis how to have fun?

The racing side of GUSC caters for all of this and much more. The majority of the sailing we do is team racing. High octane racing for a very short period of time, no more of this ‘sail your own race’ stuff. 3 fireflies with a helm and crew up against 3 others with the aim of finishing with a winning combination. Sailing together, racing together and then drinking till the sun comes up again. This is what we do, and quite well!

With our A team as winners of the SUSA leagues last year, the B team in 4th place and the Cs dominating the Silver league you will be without a doubt joining the best university team racing club in Scotland . This year we aim to build on last year’s success and once again field three teams (of 6 people). The As and Bs will almost certainly pop in a few events further down South again, to defend their title at the Durham Dambuster, get some higher level practice in and go for a shot at BUSA finals (pending qualification!). The Cs meanwhile will take it at a more leisurely pace with a win in the Silver league and a win in the themed nights out in their sights!!
So if this sounds your scene get yourself along to the team trials on the first weekend of term (September the 21-22nd), obviously following the obligatory cheese and wine social the night before!

Oh and remember just one thing that puts Glasgow above the rest:

‘Habemus magis ludus*’
or
‘WE HAVE MORE FUN!’

Got any questions about anything to do with the dinghy racing contact Captain Moray on :
