Open Sailing

Open sailing is your chance to get involved in the sailing club without needing the experience or time to be a part of the racing teams.

Open sailing runs every Wednesday, meeting at 1 pm on the steps of the GUU. We can provide the kit (wetsuits, lifejackets etc.), the boats and the qualified instructors to give you an enjoyable afternoon no matter if you are a pro sailor or have never been on a boat in your life! Just bring something to wear under a wetsuit (or your own kit if you have it) and a towel in case you get wet.

This year the Glasgow Sailing Club has teamed up with Strathclyde to offer Royal Yachting Association assessment days which you can use to show your progress! In this way we will be able to offer you certificates of the national sailing scheme to prove your competency at a cheaper price than you’ll find anywhere!

Open sailing will start early in the semester and a full programme and details of RYA assessment days will be posted soon on this site.

For a beginners guide to sailing, see this document.
